Adopting Anjali

It's a little late to get started, but..

I have wanted to start a blog about our adoption journey for quite some time now.  This week I spent some time reading blogs written by adoptive parents and realized you are supposed to start when you begin this process which for us was the summer of 2013 and now it is 2015...so yes, we are starting a bit late!  I have so much appreciated seeing the timelines of other's adoption journeys...it is the only thing that has provided any sense of how long things really take.  Unfortunately, I can't provide that without really wracking my brain and scouring the piles of paperwork.  We received our referral in April 2014 and are currently waiting for our NOC from CARA.  We are adopting a beautiful girl named Anjali from India who turns 3 on March 23rd of this year.  We had the wonderful opportunity to visit Anjali in December and I have been a wreck ever since.  I left my heart in India with Anjali and have been in a fog.  Each day has passed by so slowly since we visited her and nothing seems important except bringing her home.  We have the NOC blues.  The NOC or No Objection Certificate means that no one in India objects to your adoption.  It marks the beginning of the end of the long wait that is adoption.    We had hoped to bring Anjali home by her 3rd birthday, but realistically it looks like it may be June or July.  We are so close and yet so far.  Ultimately, we feel blessed to have this amazing, intense little girl in our life.  She is force to reckon with and I can't wait to have her close to love and care for...so here's to the beginning...the beginning of the end, NOC or not.  We will bring her home soon!  This blog is for our dear sweet Anjali. We love you so, so much.
